Cherokee XJ rare interior
Hello everyone,
My name name is Alin and I`m from Romania. Last summer I`ve bought a white 1991 Jeep Cherokee XJ from Austria that proved to be a bucket full of rust (although I paid a premium for it because it was advertised as a rust-free survivor with 130.000 km, but that’s another discussion). It`s a white 2 door version with the Renault diesel engine that was initially sold as a two-seat commercial vehicle for taxation reasons.
Anyway, under the seat covers I discovered that the rear seat is not matching my burgundy (Cordovan) front seats (it`s actually a cloth/vinyl grey bench from a Laredo), and because I`m completed restoring the car (the rust issue was already fixed), I`m looking for a matching rear seat. The problem is that I couldn’t find anywhere a Cherokee with a similar interior, not even e single picture on the internet. I`m searching for months now, but I simply don’t want to change the full interior with a more common one just to match the seats with the bench.
So I`m asking for your help: have you ever come across to a similar looking upholstery? I`ve seen the same pattern in grey, but never the burgundy one. Please reply if you know anything that could help. Thank you!

Very nice looking jeep! Perhaps an upolstery shop may have the fabric, or search wrecking yards for a good used rear seat.
That is a cool color, even the dash and wheel match, so nice!
So they sold them without a rear seat to save on taxes? Golly what a wacked out government rule. I hate government rules like that, and the politicians that make these rules.
I bet the diesel is nice to have, assuming it gets good miles per gallon. My gasoline jeep gets 16 mpg (six cylinder ) what mpg do you get with the diesel? For me gasoline is over $6/ gallon thanks to California dictates, and the fools in Washington. Yikes! Of course they tell me I can save $80 a month if I simply buy a new Tesla.
Please do tell more about the diesel motor you got, what displacement, horse power, and mpg it achieves.
Anyway that is a nice color, good luck in your quest.

Thanks, @robsjeep.
The diesel engine is the same one that was available in the US between 1985-1987: Renault J8S 2.1 litre, 87 HP. Slow and noisy, but reliable and furgal. 38 MPG to 20 MPG, so friendly with your wallet. )
Back to my interior, I`ve search all the cars on car-part.com, there are hundreds of Cherokees from junkyards there, none has the same interior as mine. This is somehow a further proof that my car is unique?

That interior color is not "rare". It was unpopular and only used in the early years.

Actually it`s not about the color, but the pattern of the fabric. This particular fabric was used only after 1990 on Base or Sport Cherokees, but all the pictures I could find were with grey or tan interiors.

IIRC, that color was only used in the Renix Jeep era. In leather on Limiteds, and in cloth on Laredos and others.

No, I live in Bucharest, Romania. But I have several friends in the US that could help me with the shipping if I manage to track a similar-looking backseat.
