oh, that changes things a bit

well if your running the stock 35 now then anything is an upgrade, so i would roll with this 35

then hope you dont break anything so when you go up to the 44 you can sell the 35 and make your money back

oh its not my rig haha its the "leader" of an off road group im in. he's running 35" tires, not sure how wide cuz its in metric size, but ya get the point.
it should also be noted that he has a truss on it for added strength.

First off you can't get chromoly shafts for a 35 or any semi-float axle, they would be alloy. I ran Yukon (aka you-break) HD alloys in my 35 and broke several sets on 33s with a locker. The 35 does have some strength issues in the tubes and ring gear size but it doesn't matter what you do to it 31s are the max tire size. Hey Ogre I'd like to know what brand of shafts you can put in a 10 bolt that that will let you run 40s. That's a c-clip axle, most companies don't recommend anything bigger than 35s for a Dana 44 which is basically the same as a 10 bolt.

first of all i have not been easy on my 35 thats in there now and i havent had any trouble yet. i think i am only looking at upgrading because of the paranoia about breaking something after reading about all the bad stuff that happens to the 35 on this site and others. it is also becoming increasingly clear that if they made shafts out of something like say titanium, it still "wouldnt be as strong as what im runnin" (quoting others in case you missed the sarcasm). at this point i have no idea who or whats right or wrong. oh well. i am basically getting the chromoly upgrade for free so im gonna do it.

actually I bet your mind was made up before you posted this. If your mind was not made up you would actually listening to our comments and learning from our past mistakes, which you are not. good luck with the 35

I agree with you, and gettin the axle plus $100 for spare parts you don't need is a sweet deal. I'd like to see anybody find a deal like that for a D44. An upgrade is an upgrade. Go for it man

and just because someone doesnt do what you are saying, doesn't mean they weren't listening or had their mind already made up.
