CJ TO XJ!
A friend of mines dad has a lift kit for a cj7 which is all leafs. how hard would it be to get that lift kit onto my xj. i would prolly find the axle from a cj or a yj so that it was set up for that and it would still have the diff on the side its suposed to be. how hard would this be?

If you are very good at fab work then it wouldn't be the most complicated thing in the world. There are a bunch of guys down here in FL that run leafs up front and they usually just weld in a new front crossmember with shackle boxes and mounting points on the frame for the leafs. IMHO I would probably look for some Waggy D44s or something for leaf sprung susp. I also don't know for sure how the CJ stuff would work either, there's probably better options out there for both springs and axles. The guys that have done this down here have done it in order to run very big lifts and full width D60s and 40+ inch tires. If you are just thinking of doing this because the lift is easy to get, you are probably better off saving your time and money and buying a lift for your XJ. It would be a million times less stressful to accomplish...

imho, in my humble opinion, its a bad idea. the front coil suspension on an xj is far superior to a leaf spring front suspension. also cj leafs were very narrow and also kinda stiff, poor flex and driveability. like funkle said, the only way it is an ok idea is to run a huge suspension w/ 44" tires or so and make it a mudder. otherwise you are downgrading
