Default click,click, boom..

Alright, I'm having starter prblems. When I turn the key I get a click like the solenoid is working but doesnt fire. Turn the key a couple more times (click each time) and "boom" it fires. The guy I bought it from replaced the starter. What else should I look at?

Maybe the starter relay is going bad or the starter/battery cables need cleaning?

mine was cables and battery terminals. i replaced the terminals and got brand new 2op welding cable for free from the local Air n Gas with free crimp-on ends. no need to worry again! i replaced ALL main cables coming from the battery with 2op. starts are so much fast now compared to 6ga or 4ga cable the cherokee comes with.

its just a type of wire. it has really fine copper strands, so that its really flexible, so that welders can move it around desipite its large diameter. its also nice for installing in vehicles!

Exactly! and it is really durable, easy to use and has a really thick casing on it.

2op or 2/0 or 00 cable is almost the biggest you can get. (5op is the biggest)
rated to 600 volts, resistant to chemicals, oils, abrasion, heat and flame -vw-1 flame tested.

to put it into comparison.

inches/millimeters in diameter:
4ga wire is 0.2043"- 5.189mm
2/0 ga wire is 0.3648" - 9.266mm(way bigger)

maximum amps for power transmission per 100'
4ga 100 amps
2/0 ga 500 amps

number of strands:
4ga 189
2/0 ga 1330 (this makes it more flexible)

Mine did that just yesterday. Cable was loose and a little gunked up. A little electrical lube and a 1/2in socket and now if starts like a champ.
