Default Clicking sound coming from the electric fan

When ever I turn my car on and the electric fan turns on a clicking sound starts up, any Ideas or should I just get a new fan?

What year is your XJ???

Does it go away if you disconnect the fan?

Take the fan out. Check the blades and shroud to see if there's contact. Spin the blades by hand. See where it's hitting. Trim the shroud. If it's not hitting and sounds like it's the bearing, then yeah, replace the fan. It's under $60 at Rockauto.

Does it still stop when you disconnect the fan? Just to be sure, we're talking about the radiator fan right?

Look for debris, leaves, etc,. in the front grill, in front of the condenser and anywhere else in the path of the fan.

Make sure both fan shrouds are secured properly.

Are you sure the ticking is coming from the fan? The fan comes on under 2 conditions. One; engine is hot so the fan kicks in to help cooling. The other is when you turn on the AC.
