So, I have had my xj sitting for about 4 months through a couple of freezes and snows. Now that I have had the time to replace some things on it I went to start it and its doing this weird thing where when I turn the key to start it just clicks then no power. I can get out and wiggle the battery cable terminals and it will allow the power to come back on, but still wont start and if I try it just keeps me going in circles, any ideas?

 

Cold drains batteries, so battery is dead. If charging isn't helping battery is BAD.

 

Sounds like you have a bad electrical connection. I would check and clean both positive and negative battery cables. Battery may be toast though.

 

When I used to bump my stereo on the beach with my old battery and try to start again it would click, rapid clicks until u let off the key right? Id always have to get jumped to leave the beach. Autozone will load test battries for free

 

I have already cleaned positive and negative terminals and tried batteries that I know for sure are good. And its only one click, everything dies. Then I have to wiggle the negative connection around and its good, but when I try again, it will just click and nothing.

 

batery terminals need to be clean i had the same probablem like 2 weeks ago cleean the terminals and where the wire is connected to the terminal clamps

 

Found the culprit, traced the neg battery cable and the casing fell off as I traced it. Headin down to Vato Zone for a new cable set now... Ill post a picture when i find the cable for the camera to computer
