Clunking at low speed coasting
I have a repetitive clunking I can hear coming from the driveline that’s related to the speed of the vehicle. Sounds like it’s coming from the rear. It only happens when coasting or braking at speeds less than 20mph I replaced the transmission mount recently and that did t fix it it was bad so I’m wondering if it may have damaged something in my rear differential. I also replaced the driveshaft u joints about a year ago. I also noticed the pinion seal at the differential is leaking pretty good as well so my first priority is getting that replaced. Any ideas? 159k 96 Cherokee with Dana 35 rear axle
edit: upon further inspection
ive found the following
-1/16 in our play in front drive shaft (pinion seal is also leaking so I’m wondering if both seals are just old)
-rear u joints have some very slight up down play you can feel by hand
-seems to be a fair amount of up down side side play in the slip yolk enough to where I can hear a tap tap when I wiggle it back and forth
-rear diff fluid seems pretty dirty and Metallicy for being 20k miles old
