clutch question.
I know it might sound stupid but could someone describe how it feels when your clutch starts slippin.
It feels fine to me but when my dad drove it today he said its starting so slip. also this probably has to do with the synchronizer but it grinds most of the time (more when its cold outside) but it does grind going into second. and is hard to push up into first sometimes.

Trouble selecting gears is either syncros or bad shift forks, syncros being more likely.
I've never had a slipping clutch cause shifting issues. Just a new clutch not fully disengaging. If your old one isn't fully disengaging that could also cause the grinding.
As for a slipping clutch, its like putting your foot on the gas while in gear, hearing the motor rev up, but not really moving any faster. Its like the tires spinning, but the tires aren't spinning, just the motor and half the clutch. The half connected to the trans isn't moving at the same speed, much slower, which torches the flywheel and friction plates.

hmm, the only thing i can feel clutch wise is when i am sitting still and i put it in first with the clutch all the way in i sometimes can feel it lurching forward. and like a ...spinning sound coming from the trans. and im pretty sure its not the flywheel being turned to many times.

The best sign of a worn clutch is when you cant start smoothly in 1st, like you feel the clutch pulsating or jerking the heap while getting going, and you dont have any "feel" zone left where you cant play with the clutch when tring to start on a hill. Its either on or off
I usually check it by finding a smooth parking lot or road like one that is freshly blacktopped or hard dirt road and roast the tires. Rev it and pop the clutch out and slightly step on the brakes, iff you can break it loose then the clutch is going out. thats the fun way.
or just down shift like to pass someone and dump the clutch at a high rpm, if the rpms stay up and your not zooming off then a bad clutch
