it must have been maybe 20 years ago... had a '67 Dart with 225, had the upside down oil filter... supposedly fresh reman engine. Oil light would stay on for 7-8 sec after startup, knocking, etc. First time I did an oil change I just used oil and filter from the closest parts store. Happened to be a Wix filter. Wouldn't you know, the oil light went out less than half a second after the engine caught. Yup, the filter I took off was a Fram. I haven't used one since. Sad to hear that their quality hasn't improved over the years.

WOW!! The fact that our filters are mounted upside-down is super critical. We can't afford to use second rate filters!!!

Good. Just unnecessarily more expensive.

Yeah. I'll use them. Good enough for the factory that's standing behind all those engines, it's good enough for me.

I like MOPAR filters. Seem to be well built with plenty of weight to them.

A note of caution to you fellow Renix owners (1987 to 1990). Your oil filters have a metric thread unlike the later models (1991 and up) that are listed above.

You can convert your Renix Jeep to use the later model, easier to find filters by replacing the threaded nipple on your oil filter adapter with the later type. I think it costs $5?

Having worked in a few shops i can safely say it amazes me how FRAM still manages to exist especially when it comes to oil filters, the already covered points aside i hated changing FRAM filters as they were ALWAYS a ***** to remove. Even when repeat customers would bring in the filters, even when properly installing them by oiling the seal taking them off was always a *****.

the air filters i always found to be crap as well, seemed to clog up real quick.

the fact that MOPAR is in the name can only lead me to believe these things go for the price of gold......

ill stick with my WIX filter that runs me a couple bucks and does the job.

I have noticed since i have installed slick 50 into my 91, now when its real cold out, i have a lifter that tics like crazzy until the motor/oil warms up.....

needles too say i will be changing the oil tomorrow, and getting that crap out of my motor...

on a brighter side, i use the Napa Gold Oil Filter...

Talk about a blast from the past, I didn't know Slick 50 was still on the market.

on Napa Gold.
