the fact that MOPAR is in the name can only lead me to believe these things go for the price of gold......

ill stick with my WIX filter that runs me a couple bucks and does the job.
IIRC I've been getting them for about $4 or $5 each.

Walmart sells the Mopar 090 for our vehicles for about 5$, only problem I have heard about the mopars is that they slap their name on basically whoever will sell them a decent product. Could buy one tomorrow that might be slightly different from one you purchase a few months from now, depends who was the lowest bidder. Thats only hearsay and I have no way to back that up.

on a brighter side, i use the Napa Gold Oil Filter...
If the tick happens again, shut it off immediately, wait 10 seconds and restart. I'll bet the tick is gone. Not a cure, but it keeps things from hammering for a long time til the lifter pumps up.

As a matter of fact, they are made to Mopar's specs. They're made to go for the length of a regularly scheduled oil change interval, not extended intervals as with synthetic oils. If you change your oil regularly, they're fine. Made by Champion Labs at this point.

That used to help, but does not help anymore, it still has a ever so slight tic until it warms up. Should i pick up some sea salt and run it thru the motor before i flush the old oil out?

Sea salt will cause everything it touches to rust.

I was having a blonde moment...too much snowmobiling to day...i did mean sea foam...

I also noticed that another member posted up he runs Rotella diesel oil, i have a 04 Duramax and gallons of Delo 400 in my garage, maybe i will switch from the Vavoline 15/40 to the Delo oil and see if that makes any changes on the tic on the cold mornings....

I've had good luck with MMO. Substitute 1 quart of it for a quart of oil. Run it 1,000 to 1,5000 miles. Repeat.

Champion Labs as of a year ago. Made to factory specs. Good quality for normal oil change intervals. I will use them.

Might be a stupid question but did you ever think about an exhaust leak at the header? What you are describing is the exact symptom. Once its warmed the metal expands enough to close a gap and your tick goes away. Just a thought

I worked at a muffler/welding/fab shop over over 10 years, i can safley say its not a exhaust leak...

So stopped at Napa today on my way home from work and picked up 5 quarts of oil and a bottle of M.M.O. and a new oil filter.....I drained the 10W-40/Slick 50 out, and switched the oil to 5W-30, and added 1 quart of M.M.O. with the new oil filter. We will see if the M.M.O. and the thinner oil will help my lazzy lifter tick in the cold mornings. It has only been getting down to the 30's at night time here lately, but we will see if the M.M.O. is all that its cracked up to be... I will keep you guys posted if i notice a big difference tomorrow morning when i warm up the Jeep to go to work at 5 AM.

That IS a sign of an exhaust leak!

Do a search WIX is made by the same company that makes Fram - Hoffman.
That's also why Autolite plugs often don't work well - poor quality!
