Confused...Renix cooling system?
OK, first off, I've done the searches and have found threads pertaining to this, but there are different answers.
I'm working on a 1990 Cherokee 4.0. I believe it's the RENIX cooling system. I've seen that the CTS is shown as being located either on the side of the block, below the #2 cylinder or in the radiator, driver's side, between the trans lines for the 1990 model year.
My question is, was there ever anything else that went in the radiator location, besides the CTS? Our current Rad has a sensor there now, and I want to make sure this is the CTS for this Cherokee and nothing else.
And, if trying to update the cooling system, what needs swapped? We have a newer Radiator with the corner fill location, (the current rad has none), and a thermostat housing with the CTS location. Is there anything else and will we need to change the pigtail to work with the new CTS?
Finally.....I hear many complain about the RENIX systems, and they swap them for later systems. Why is this?
THANKS for any help!!

Well coming from a Renix owner, the major problem with the cooling system is the reservoir bottle, the cap goes bad easily and then it doesn't hold pressure, when there isn't the right pressure in the system your XJ wont cool down resulting in overheating, very bad. I just keep a close eye on the bottle, make sure it's still holding pressure.... everything else works just fine.
