Default Coolant hose connector broke?

I was taking off my valve cover to clean it up and check the gasket, and unclog my PCV valves as well. When I was pulling the cover up, a coolant hose got snagged, and broke a connector towards the firewall to the left of the block. Coolant squirted everywhere, and part of the connector broke. Gotta love brittle plastic from '91. Is there a specific name for it?

That's the heater control valve. Bypass it and block off the vacuum line. You don't need it. In fact they were eventually eliminated maybe around '99?

Yea, heater control valve. I don't mind having mine function as designed. The earlier are metal Btw. I'm thinking it waz earlier Earl..96 maybe.

91, as long as your flaps inside are about perfect, the heat in the cab you will get after the bypass will me minimal, more-so if you have functioning AC.

I don't have it handy, so a little google searching "including these words" cherokeeforum.com. Heater control bypass.

If you happen to have an unusual JY, you might find a metal one though.

My '96 had one but it decided to self destruct. Doesn't seem to effect the a/c at all. Before I found out here about bypassing it I was doing a search for a metal one. Found one for an early GM car but it took a larger hose which I guess could have been dealt with some how.
