Coolant Sensor Replacement 1990 Renix!!! HELP!!!!

Ok .. so I thought I'd replace my coolant sensor. I got a BWD from Advance Auto. I can't get the thing to go in... I tried putting the old one back in.. it doesn't want to go either.. What the heck could be wrong????

Is it the one for the gauge in the rear of the block on top, or for the ECU on the lower side behind the exhaust manifold?

Thank you for your replies... After fighting it for about 2 hours.. i took off the "hose" from the exhaust to the air box (not sure what it is called) was able to see better. Got determined .. and got it lined up and in. That dang pigtail makes it hard..
