Mine is showing the telltale signs of fog on windshield and Coolant scent when turning on heat.
Is this clearly a heater core issue?
If so, are there new and improved easy ways to fix it?

- Yes.

Might as well do the evap while you're in there. It adds a few bucks to the project, but you really don't want to have to do it again for a while.

I was hoping to get on it today or tomorrow while I'm off but I was able to order a core and evaporater shipped from rockauto for less than a condenser alone at autozone.

Before anyone starts pulling the heater core. If the hoses are tight against the firewall make sure they aren't leaking into the interior. They do get old and soft/rot. Seen this a few times. Can't hurt to check.

Air enters the box (under the filter) right behind the rad cap and hoses. If coolant gets splashed/leaks around there it can make it's way into the box pretty easy. Found this out after a coolant flush by a sloppy mechanic once. Had fumes in the cab with the air on, found a puddle in the box, wiped it out, put it a new filter, and the smell went away. Sounds like you've got something else going on, but never hurts to check the simple stuff before tearing into a job. Good luck!

Ah man, never wished for fluid in my airbox until now. Oh well, parts are incoming. I'm not the most patient. Hopefully I won't destroy something in the process.
