Yes, that is exactly why I dont like it. Sure its supposed to be more environmentally friendly but it doesnt last long and gums everything up (even if not mixed with green). Even the stuff that you can mix with either coolant is pure garbage.
If you are willing to spend the money, water-less coolant is some pretty cool stuff. It has a ridiculously high boiling temp and creates virtually no pressure in the system.

The PO of my silver XJ got it so hot that it melted the valve cover gasket yet still drove it. Tell me that isnt impressive. It blew coolant everywhere and he still didnt stop.

PO really neglected the cooling system. Replaced the radiator and e fan but failed to thoroughly flush. Coolant was orange/brown with rust when I got it.
Lost track of how many times I flushed it to rid the system of rust. Also had to use a product called Thermocure specifically designed to remove rust from cooling systems. Once clean I used the conventional green concentrate from Advanced and added distilled water. Container says it should be replaced every two years but I read somewhere that the conventional green works better than the yellow extended life in these situations?

But if my gauge ain't working right for some reason, I want to smell it boiling before it cooks the oil. I would rather have it boil over before it does any serious damage than boil over after it has killed it. Some things that are analog are still sacred man. lol
Like this badass foolproof hands free GPS device that never requires you to drive around in circles to calibrate! lol
