Alright...new thermo housing gasket in, new water pump/gasket in, new fan in. Problem is the fan still doesn't turn on. I checked it on the battery and it works. So would the next replacement be the temperature sensor that's connected to the thermostat housing?

does the a/c work? if so does turning it on make the fan come on? heres what i finally found on mine after years of it not working properly(i dont drive it much) on the pdc (underhood fuse box) where the relay plugs in... the electrical connectors that the blades on the relay actually plug into were pushing away from the relay when you placed it in its correct location. pull the pdc off the bracket and flip it over you should be able to see if the wires are fully seated on the relay. on mine some of the spade connectors were so loose (for whatever reason) i had to replace them. just have to snug up all the wires from the bottom if i pull the relay out,check it out im sure im not the only person what this problem

So I disconnected the harness from the temp sensor on the thermostat housing and all it did was make the temp gauge not work. I'll check the relay when I get home. I replaced it so it's new, but it may not be seating correctly as you said.

IIRC, removing it should bring the fan on....

I haven't been able to check the relay yet, but when I plug it in, it feels like it's seating pretty well. Feels pretty tight. So Roler, you're saying when I unplug that temp sensor the fan should come on? Since it doesn't, what else is there to check?

.....and it should also set CEL, iirc.

Ahh...check engine light is on. Oddly enough it went off for quite a while after I changed out the water pump, etc., but recently came back on. Any other thoughts as to what could be making the fan not turn on?

U've checked both relays and fuses? What code(s) scanned? Devil's in the details.

All fuses look good but I only knew of the one relay which is in the engine compartment on the passenger side. Where is the other relay?

Found the problem. I didn't realize the fuses under the hood included one for the cooling fan. Popped a new one in and the fan works great. Thanks again for the info and help in tracking down the problem. I am now moving on to the next problem which sounds like it's a u-joint problem.

The next replacement that is needed is your method. Parts swapping is an expensive way to troubleshoot.

Test first, then replace.

I've definitely learned my lesson with that. I think the cooling system is good now. Fan works, no leaks, and temp stays at 210. Test first, then replace = measure twice, cut once.
