I would suspect that the "auxiliary" second Factory cooler is a somewhat rare Factory option. The Factory "auxiliary" cooler does not replace/eliminate the Factory rad mounted cooler.
I would think those bass ackwards RHD XJs would definitely benefit from a second, or auxiliary, tranny fluid cooler. It would be interesting to see how average tranny fluid temps compare between LHD and RHD XJs (cool end of rad vs hot end). Guess that will never happen since one would need an unnecessary temp gauge in order to get those numbers.

I would almost agree with this entire post, but yeah, finding a rhd with aux temp gauge will never happen ..they would be too frightened to see what infernal furnace was actually sitting underneath the floor.....which is not necessary, creates only worries ( after all it has always been there), so better enjoy life ..

that mightt actually be do-able. However, tempgun readings are pretty iffy if you ask me.....when I try to get an acurate and consistent reading on lets say my thermostat housing with engine running, its all over the place. But will give it a try, just because we can and will try to see if any readings on the hotside of the radiator make some sense as well. You do the same and we meet up here? Wait, that sounds too much like a date..."lets post our data back here"....

Several folks here (with the steering wheel on the correct side) have installed a tranny fluid temp gauge. IIRC, fluid temps seemed to range 150F-175F. Maybe some of them will chime in. Our XJ is presently 450 miles away from my temp gun. Again, we did not eliminate the OEM Factory standard tranny cooler, we added a second (auxiliary) tranny cooler inline with and after the first (primary) tranny cooler. I would think 2 coolers would guarantee a fluid temp drop compared to 1 cooler.
Our other 2 vehicles trannies temps r monitored by ScanGauges. This time of year here, it takes a full days worth of driving to see 125F fluid temp.
