Default Correct selector placement for Heat

1996 year model

Are the settings that say Max, Normal & Bi-Level for cold air conditioning only or are they used for heat as well depending on where you put the other lever?

Here is what I’ve experienced:

Max setting produces hot heat

Normal setting produces hot heat

Bi-Level setting produces hot heat from dash and luke warm from feet and rear ducts

Vent setting produces luke warm air from dash vents and seems to allow cold air in somewhere on my feet

Heat setting produces luke warm air from feet and rear vents

Those settings are for air conditioning but if you have the heat selector set to hot, you will get hot air, it should be cooler than if you were on a none AC selection. Air passes through the AC core after the motor no matter what mode you select. I've got to be honest, I'm not sure why you are getting cooler temps on the none AC settings.

Here's what each setting should do:
Max A/C - Dash panel vents with floor vent bleed - Air recirculation
Normal A/C - Dash panel vents with floor vent bleed - Exterior air
Bi-Level A/C - Dash panel vents with floor vent - Exterior air
Vent - Dash panel vents with floor vent bleed - Exterior air
Heat - Floor with defrost bleed - Exterior air
Defrost - Defrost with floor bleed - Exterior air
