Default Could a cracked injector be causing a fuel smell in cab?

You can see the split near the block. This is first one 2nd has a smaller crack. I have a bad fuel smell in he cab even with windows up on start up hard accelerations , and after stop lights. Could this be the cause? Had system smoked at Jeep today no evap or fluid leaks. Yet throwing a large evap leak code ....

that shouldn't smell inside the cab, is it leaking? good time to go with 784 injectors now tho anyways.

as for the smell inside, you probably have a hole in your floor and a fuel line. start looking for wet area of line most likely near the rear door area.

as for your evap leak, try loosening the gas cap and starting your jeep. see if it goes away. don't forget to tighten it back up tho...

My injectors were leaking once and I could smell it in the cab when I had the heater or a/c on. I replaced mine and it went away. Just my .02

Just had it at the dealer yesterday, smoked system for over an hour, not even a tiny leak in system. I went under Jeep on lift with the tech and no visible holes in floor. Undercoating has been applied to the whole belly.

I replaced mine and it went away.
This is my plan, try all of them , the rusted fuel rail, and then the O2s to see if it stops. I just got the XJ running and driving great but this damn fuel smell is killing me.

You would see the fuel leaking out if they are cracked, thats only the outer jacket! (plus the early 2 piece injectors were known to leak not the later one's)
You (OP) need to look at your whole fuel system It even tells you (CEL) try looking at the charcoal box.

How many tanks of gas have you run through it since this started? I know it sounds silly. But on my 01 when I get gas and the little plastic cap retainer thingy gets under the cap and it doesn't close all the way I get a strong fuel smell in the cab.

wouldn't something have shown in the smoke test?

Not silly, common issue in XJs, that and not sealing I have tried several gas caps as well..

I had a really bad gas smell for a while when I was driving around, I figured out it was the grommets for the injectors they were bad. I bought new ones at NAPA and no gas smell from them again.

Recently I have had another gas smell issue, it is because the PCV valve or breather or whatever you call it on the valve cover near the front of engine is broken and doesn't stay in the valve cover. When this happens, I smell gas bad!!!

Can you believe you cannot buy the pcv at an autozone, its a junk yard only part.

Whats funny about that is my 96 didn't have either of those on the valve cover, both broke right at the base on the cover and I had no smell. Yet mine like newer on the 01. Grrr I hope I find soon. Maybe I will replace those just bc. Thanks

What year is your jeep? Might be a good idea to fill out your profile....

I had a bad injector at one time that never would close all the way and did much the same thing. It took it a while for the engine to throw a code for it though. Once I replaced them with new ones I've not noticed much since.

One way to look for the leak is just cycle the key on a couple of times when it's cold and inspect the fuel system for leaks. When mine were leaking and I could smell gas every time I looked for it I couldn't find it till I did it when it was cold so the gas wouldn't evaporate quickly

Replaced Rail and injectors with 784s last night. So far, no smell on a 35 mile drive to work. I will continue to monitor. Still a slight fuel smell around tailpipe, but not in cab. I'm guessing that's bad 02s running rich... My rail had that damper thing on there which I'm told I do not need and I believe could also have been contributing to the cab smell. Guess only time will tell.
