Should work no problem, you may have connector issues as they changed the CPS what 10 times trying to get it right. If there are connector issues just hard wire it or swap out the old connector.

Yes, the CPS for my son's 87 Renix 4.0 is the exact same P/N as the CPS for my 91 4.0 HO.
