Default CPS Question

so my jeep is squealing metalicly...

it had a fuel and spark problem, then it started and now its doing the squeal.... on the "flexplate/flywheel" of my automatic XJ there are drag marks where the cps would read.

any idea

Just a thought. I forget at the moment which one, but if one of the starter bolts is long enough it can hit the torque plate. Starter changed lately?

The starter is how its been since I bought it in 2010, but its just strange to me that, I had a no start for about an hour, and then it started perfectly. Perfect idle for once and everything .. I drove it 45 feet and it started the metallic squealing...

I noticed my flex plate was cracked two days ago... but the plate isn't bent or touching anything else... what's the squeal?

Well yeah, I've come to that conclusion lol,

and I was under the assumption that the cps read the little punched out squares behind the starter teeth... magnetic differences.

you are correct it does read there ,its early most likely flex plates wobbling back and forth touching cps because of crack

So is the flex plate the likely cause of the squeal?

I mean I'm all for replacing it, are there any write ups available? I'm on my phone at work so its kind of hard to search

I have an update from last night I'm curious about. Hopefully you can help.

I removed one of the cps bolts and tilted it away so I could crank with no start.

It then did the turn turn turn CLUNK CLUNK... it was pretty violent. And I then lost the nerve to crank it again for fear of damage.

Could it be that my cracked flex plate has finally given out?

I'm waiting for money... and for it to get over 35 degrees out side... I have an "open air garage" aka driveway
