CRACKED FRONT UNIBODY 2 door 88 xj
#16
The rear axle spring perches and shock mounts are different than the XJ. The stock Comanche is spring under with longer shocks. You could go spring over for 6.5" of lift, or my case it was 5.5" over stock due to the stock springs having sagged a bit. It paired well with a set of 4.5" springs up front that ended up closer to 5.5". As I recall the spring perches were also spaced side-side differently than the XJ. Either way you'll be cutting and moving the spring perches and shock mounts if you grab an XJ axle. The 5-speed probably came with 3.07 gearing. Maybe get creative and find a 9" with disk brakes and 4.11 gears and a D30 front from a 4-cyl with 4.10 gears?

Comparing my 98 2 door with the two 4 doors(one pre and one post facelift) that two of my friends own, I dont see a difference in front seat leg room.
And actually thinking back several years ago to the 84 2 door a buddy had, I think the 2 doors have more leg room in the back seat.
It could be just me though. But I just dont notice a difference in the front.

You think we find these deals asking $200 to start? That xj was listed at $1000 for MONTHS
Then you make a not too insulting offer and specify you will trailer it away no mess no hassle.
Jump started it and drove right onto trailer

Really?
Offerup is same as craigslist here, I never go alone regardless
Here is the "worse shape " xj I'm looking into after the 2 door frame fix. Hopefully $150
I'm picking up a set of five 98 zj alloy rims and tires tomorrow for $50 from offerup also for the Comanche

That's it... you're hooked. Now you won't be able to go anywhere without constantly scanning the landscape for your next XJ. I know the feeling, I have three XJ's and a ZJ in my yard right now and am always on the hunt for more... at the right price, of course.
This is a great support group though. Hang around long enough and you'll realize that it isn't an addiction, but rather a superhuman trait that only the broadest of shoulders can bear. Men want to be you and women want to be with you.
You are the master of the road, both on and off.
Greetings and salutations.

Question, in process of deleting the heater control valve and hazy on plumbing afterwards.
I purchased 6' of 5/8" & 1/2" heater core hose, as well as a new plastic coolant bottle which has 2 outlets.
So 5/8" to 5/8" heater core, 1/2" to 1/2" heater core. But how is the bottle etc plumbed
Pictures would be great. Still deciding if I need to change system to newer radiator and overflow jug IF I cant get renix cooling working.
Also appears I have max fuel and max oil pressure on gauges, hard fixes? Sending units on both??
