Lol. His last post was in Feb 2015 for this topic (Aug 2015 all time last post). My guess is the XJ prbably ripped clean in 2 shortly after and he is working on getting it home. That's probably why he has been gone for almost 2 years.

Just my guess, I could definitely be way off.

I just replaced the rear third or so of my unibody "frame" member. Rotted out at the wheel well. I cut one out of a donor vehicle and spliced it in. Good as new. Well, it's not pretty at all, but it works.

I agree with others. Weld it, plate it, and drive it.

But I would not do any wheeling until it's fixed.

Since VA state inspection are such *****, how do you pass inspection with a repair that's so visible in such a critical area? They give you any grief?

I passed two inspections with my frame badly rotted away. It was never mentioned. It's not on the list of things they are required to check.

Maybe it should be, but it's not.
