Cranks but won't start
97 Cherokee 4.0
Has been driving not so good. Occasional sputters and jerking around at decent speed. Got it back from getting it inspected, drove it home and it would not start again.
Checked all the fuses, its blowing an o2 relay fuse again but I don't think that's the problem.
-It did have pressure in the rail now it doesn't seem to
-The electric fan is now always on when I turn the key.
-Appears to have no spark
-Can't hear the fuel pump turn on
-Gas gauge stopped working, battery gauge stopped working
-No codes, and instead of the key trick displaying 55 at the end of tests it just jumps straight to milage
This is absolutely puzzling me, I have no idea where to even begin. My first thought was the crank sensor since I bought one of off ebay, I figured it was a cheapie and burnt out, but I bought one from Advanced today and it didn't help anything.

It sound to me like you could have a couple of wires shorting out.
Appears to have no spark. Did you visually check or....?
BTW, welcome to CF.

You blow fuses for a reason. No fuel rail pressure cause the fuel pump isn't working. I'd start with the relay. Not sure if it would make the gauge inoperable.

Earlier my 90 xj would die a second after starting. I was so angry because I just got it legal to drive. (Murphy's law) turned out I just forgot to re hook up one of the many grounds on the post by the four relays. Another time a Chrysler wouldn't start on me and I was stumped for over a week. Turned out a third small easy to miss vacuum line wasn't put back on the egr diaphragm. Point is both situations were incredibly easy to fix, but were incredibly problematic. Don't know if u had a previous mechanic or u yourself did some engine tinkering, But were all human and simple mistakes will be made. My advice is take a good look and see if anything seems out of place, then play with the ohm meter and so on. Or refresh your computer and re check what the codes say. Good luck. This post was to help u more than the jeep.
