Default Crazy Speedo

I have been chasing an electrical issue with my speedo, 01 XJ.

When i turn left and accelerate the speedo jumps like crazy.

When i put it in drive and accelerate it sometimes jumps like crazy, and when i go over bumps at highway speeds it jumps like crazy.

Have changed the speedo sensor 3 times, checked if its loose cleaned the grounds in the engine bay etc.

When the speedo goes crazy the car cuts out when you try and floor it.

I am stumped, has anyone seen this before on an 01?

This is from a 1996 Jeep Cherokee FSM...suggest you download a FSM for your year and verify diagnosis procedure.

FYI:The spedometer needle moves as the movable permanent magnet aligns itself to the changing magnetic fields created around it by the electromagnets.

The diagnosis found here addresses an Inoperative gauge condition. If the problem being diagnosed is related to gauge accuracy, be certain to confirm that
the problem is with the gauge and not with an incorrect speedometer pinion, axle ratio, or tire size. Refer to Group 21 - Transmission for more information. For
circuit descriptions and diagrams, refer to 8W-40 -Instrument Cluster in Group 8W - Wiring Diagrams.
(1) Perform the vehicle speed sensor test as described in the appropriate Powertrain Diagnostic
Procedures manual. If OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, replace the faulty vehicle speed sensor.
(2) Disconnect the battery negative cable. Unplug the vehicle speed sensor, the PCM connector B
(white), and the daytime running lamp module (if equipped). Remove the instrument cluster bezel and
the cluster assembly. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
(3) Probe the vehicle speed sensor signal circuit cavity of the cluster connector. Check for continuity
to a good ground. There should be no continuity. If OK, go to Step 4. If not OK, repair the short circuit
as required.
(4) Check for continuity between the vehicle speed sensor signal circuit cavities of the cluster connector
and the vehicle speed sensor connector. There should be continuity. If OK, replace the faulty speedometer/
odometer unit. If not OK, repair the open circuit as
required.
