Default creaking/clicking sound when braking (low speed)

I have this strange creaking sound coming whenever I come to a complete stop. SEEMS to be coming from my front driver's side tire, and only audible in the last few seconds coming to a stop. Okay, now the hard part: I've recently replaced damn near everything in the front end. Axle ujoints, driveshaft ujoints, sway bar bushings, end link bushing, track bar (adjustable), coils, shocks, dampener, ball joints, hub bearings, all tie rods, brakes... everything is greased and torqued appropriately. I can't for the life of me figure out WHAT could be the culprit here. Even got new tires, balanced and everything! Oh and last year I put in brown dog "super" motor mounts and a new transmission mount. I'm at a loss here guys. Does anyone have ANY suggestions????

You can replace the whole thing, or you can weld up the notch and then file it smooth so that you have a smooth surface there again.

OK, you've checked for wear... Next step...How do the brake pads actually fit the knuckle ?? Check for up and down movement against the knuckle slides..The pad should fit snug with no movement other than side to side.. If there's even a little gap you'll get that clicking sound from the pads...There's clips called abutment shim clips that take up the clearance between the brake pad and the knuckle..A kit will have different thicknesses from .005 up to possibly .050.. You just pick out the ones that fit the gap.. Here's a pic from when I did my last set..This is from my rear disc conversion but you can see the clips between the pads and slide if you look closely..Not only do they take up the gap but also spread the load across the slide so you don't get that worn groove in the knuckle..

Tagging on to this thread instead of starting a new one. If I don't get any responses, I'll start a new one.

I am rebuilding the front end of my XJ. My knuckles have some wear in the brake pad area. I attached a pic. Are these worn enough that I should have them welded?

Wouldn't hurt to do so. Leaving them with the wear notches will just increase the wear in the future in my opinion.
