Default Cruise control Servo Cable

was at the junkyard today and grabbing as many needed parts as possible. While doing so I was able to remove a CC Servo cable. Not sure how the heck i was able to get the cable out from the servo side but i did. Now im not exactly sure how to put it back onto my servo at home. Has anyone ever swapped the cable and if so do you remember the orientation on how that cable goes?

Anyone have any idea how to spool the cable back into the servo?

Hmm.. never had mine apart. Pics on the web don't help. Perhaps post a few pics of the cable end (servo side) and inside the servo where it attaches. The cable is listed as a separate part so it's meant to come off.

Kinda hard to tell from the pics but here’s what I’m working with. The cable has two parts that have like a small nut, on the servo side is this wheel that has a spring that winds it up, on the wheel is a notch on both sides where the nut on the cable is held in place. I’ve tried several different ways and I just can’t get the orientation correct. I thought I paid close attention when removing the cable but apparently missed a step lol

Just an fyi for anyone that needs to replace the cable due to a broken clip that connect to the throttle.

the cable itself has a junction near the servo where it can be separated into two pieces. Wish I would’ve seen this it would’ve been much easier to remove and replace at this point rather then removing in its entirety from the servo itself

So that is not the cable that goes to the throttle body?

It is the same cable. One end connects to the throttle body, the other end has a junction about 4 inches away from the servo. I should’ve replaced at the junction. If you don’t replace at the junction then the last 4 inches “pictured” connects into the little wheel at the servo

The cable pictured connects to the servo side, the other end of the cable “not pictured” connects to the throttle body

Well, based on the photos, the small barrel on the end of the cable goes to the metal bracket in the center. This is likely the piston attached to the diaphragm. The loops around the pulley twice (due to the 2 "channels", with the other barrel in the squared hole in the pulley. The long end then exits straight out.

My guess, is to get the center barrel in the pulley first and wrap the cable around it. You can then turn the pulley against the spring and hook the end barrel on. The feed the rest of the cable though.

Again, it's just a guess seeing the notches and orientation of the pulley.

thank you Saudade, your pretty close, thats exactly what ive been doing. Ive tried routing both under the pulley and above the pulley. Problem is when i attach the barrel on the end to the bracket as you suggested the other barrel ends up with either too much slack or not enough. must be the way im installing the spring? I did get it installed one way but then the pulley doesnt function. I’ll keep messing with it I may need to find another at the junkyard to verify i have it in the same. If anyone has an old servo that they can open and take a pic that would be very helpful
