Yes I have done tip 10 except for the fuse part and I'll check that tomorrow. Probably not it but at this point I'm trying everything.

I'm thinking it's something in the torque converter. How do I go about starting to check that stuff out? Any sensors, harnesses or grounds I should check? There has to be an answer as my family and me drove my 94 for 12 years before it started. The 89 did from the time I got it 6 months ago but I just got it on the road so now I'm trying to fix it bad. Now I wish it was a 5 speed

I know you said you don't think the tires are the problem... but i had the same issue for a long time had a fairly good tires so didnt think that was an issue then changed the front tires after a year or so and the problem went away.. not to say you need new tires but maybe try rotating them????

If it was the tires or rim it would always do it not only when the TCU was in. I'm fairly sure. Also it did it with the tires that came on it and the tires I just put on it. So that's two sets of tires and it still does it with TCU plugged in.

Thank you for the suggestion though because I'm listening and taking in every microscopic detail in. I REALLY want US to solve this for me and everyone else who might have this problem.

Here is link that contains a bit more info on the TCU inputs and outputs. As you said early on you definately can make it go away by unplugging tcu and have no shifting problems when plugged in I would test those input sensors as well as the output to solenoids. I have heard of torque converter shudder but I dont know what causes it. It has to be rare to burn out a torque converter on these, but you never know I guess. I am no aw4 techie, I hear they are hard to come by being a solid built tranny as they are.

Try this.

See that little white switch thing a ma jiggy on the brake pedal? Pull it away from the brake pedal and go drive it. That switch doesn't let the torque converter lock up with the brakes applied.

Will read and try testing and by the way SHUDDER is a good adjective to describe it.

First, I was reading about this last night haha.
Second, my 89 jeep model has cruise control but it does not work but now this makes me wonder if the vibration and no cruise control are tied together somehow.

Cruiser, what exactly do you mean pull it away? Unplug it? Actually force it away because it's in there good and I don't want to break it.

CRUISER! CRUISER! CRUISER! AND EVERYBODY.

It's fixed. I went out and wiggled the brake switch and the pedal with a screwdriver. Didn't think it would be fixed it since cruiser said pop it off but jumped in and drove it and it don't shake at any speed with TCU plugged in.

I love this site. All I did was research and come to the conclusion that I thought it was something in torque converter and Cruiser jumped on that like a savage dog.

I've learned so much about Jeeps and vehicles in general from this site. Seriously, I've learned so much I can pretty much handle most problems, especially with a little help from CF friends: thank you all.

Way cool.

So now, your torque converter doesn't try to lock up.

When it was trying to lock up before, was it because the torque converter is bad or do you have an "iffy" lock up solenoid?

I have no idea on what it was. The wiggling made the shaking stop though.

This jeep only has 78,000 miles, isn't a torque converter going bad on the AW4 kind of rare, especially with such low miles?
The brake switch is still on pedal just to make that clear.

Isn't my jeep running correct now?
Do I need to check the solenoid?

Not sure. Was it the switch, the converter, or is it a solenoid?

You're good to go for a while. And yes, a converter failure is extremely rare. Got a tach?

All I know is when I wiggled the switch it made the shaking stop that occurred at 45mph+
And no I don't have an RPM hand. Which is aggravating.
When I was researching this everyone on old threads said they would watch their RPM's and I couldn't.
Thank you for helping me fix this problem.

Now on to changing my headlight switch. The headlights come on when I pull it out but my dash lights do not. When I twist it they stay black. They worked when I first got it so I think the switch just burned out.
