I just replaced my exhaust. My cherrybomb is even with my rear axle drive shaft joint. That is below the frame rail. Also it is slightly HIGHER then the stock muffler was.

The newer XJ must have lower exhaust because my 95 and 96 had the exhaust even with the frame rails

What about true duals? custom split from the mani? possible, probable, practical? You would still have to run them side by side until the axle but who cares if its even. Its something thats been knocking around in my dome for a while. Straight out the back though, not out the side... Not practical unless strictly for street use, which in my opinion is pointless.

In some states if your vehicle is over a certain mileage it is ok for it not to have a cat. My 1992 has no cat and is ran into a cherry bomb. it sounds mean as hell but the drone does get annoying. i will eventually take it out one side or the other. I used to have it straight piped and it sounded mean too but the welds sucked so it sounded like it had a turbo and that got REALLY annoying so i chopped it back off and put the glass pack on

We dont discuss running without a cat here at CF.. it's in the rules sticky that you didnt read.

If your vehicle came with a catalytic convertor it is never too old to not need one. It's a federal mandate that all post 1975? vehicles be equipped with one. Removal is in violation..

dude really.......in order to have tru duals you need an engine with 2 exhaust manifolds!!!! you could split it at the rear and make it look like duals but thats a waste they are gunna hit the shackles and the reciever(if equiped with aftermarket trailer hitch)

errmmm you running fuel injection right?

you would either need to make a way for the exhausts to join for the O2 sensor then split again or somehow run 2 sensors. It may not run right otherwise.

thanks for the constructive criticism, unlike other people...

I didn't even think about it... multiple sensors makes this all the more impractical.

I'm sure one O2S would cause some problems.

Duals on a jeep. But as mcnslayer stated you cant run true duals with the 4.0.

1-5-3-6-2-4

1,3,4----2,5,6

with the right headers.... I suppose a "true duel" exhaust could exist. But from the power gain of the header you would loose in weight and the lack of O2 sensor capability.

If you really want duel exhaust... Just Y pipe the dern thing after the cat and go crazy.
