Cylinder Head Identification
I have a 1999 Cherokee sport with a 4.l straight 6 cylinder. How can I find out which head casting number it is . Thanks for any information.

You should be able to see a 4 digit number on the left side.
I believe it will peek out enough under the valve cover for you to still see it.
Assuming it is original thinking it will be 0630

The 99 came with a 0630 head. The 00-01 came with a 0331. Both are cast iron. TUPY heads are also cast iron. But aftermarket aluminum heads do exist. Edelbrock sells them. I dont remember which heads they cover tho.

Factory never supplied aluminum heads for the 4.0.
