D30 leaky seals
Can someone point me in the direction of a good how-to for replacing axle seals on a vac disco D30. It may be straight forward enough but I wouldn't know cause I've never even had the wheels off.

I did search, I found a great article on how to replace the seals in a non vacuum disconnect axle and some information about the passenger side seal being in the disconnect housing on the vac axle. Seems like you need to do it different because you can't just gut it like you can a regular one.

You gotta pull the right axle, install the seal from the disco housing hole and pull it into place with a special tool. Some people have made a tool with a piece of all-thread.

Really? I'll be dipped! Do you happen to know, did they put "command track" on other axle's and if so does the seal go in silly with those also? Also in the above process /\, they forgot to put on the wheels! (makes me feel better).

There are guys here who should know better than me, but I'll take a guess. I saw posted yesterday by a guy who's pretty slick, that there is a retaining clip on the inner end of the inner axle section. In the diff you remove some pin to let the axle in to remove the retainer? The left axle being pressed and bolted one piece may not have the retainer, just slides out with the hub off. There is some trick involving using an extension or piece of pipe and the power searing to press the hub off. You might not need to mess with that inner axle. Also removing the diff carrier is probably not something you really want to get into.

From what I understand you can pull the diff carrier out and put it back as long as it goes back exactly the same although I'm gonna try my best to avoid it.
I've gotta pick some parts up from the Jeep shop in town on Monday so I'll ask them too.
I appreciate the help and I'll post some pictures when I do it so hopefully it helps someone else.
