Dana 30 Breather Hose
Hey guys,
At some point I lost the hose that comes out of the upper right top rear of the pumpkin on the Dana 30. Anyone know where to pick one up or how to make a new one?
thanks

Rusty/crusty memories(I mean I've seen posts), ......if the vent tube deal is broken off the (T'Case, diff, whatever), little bit of a booger that. Not a convenient place for an extractor or to drill and tap a new vent. IDK though.....I haven't been there.

@Dumajones Thanks dude!
@DFlintstone The plastic piece at the diff has always kinda been loose...The whole thing just slipped out, so no need for surgery.
I may just hit the junkyard although I was trying to avoid that. Thought maybe there was a quick new replacement I could just purchase. I'm assuming a tube from any XJ/ZJ D30 will work?

Thinking any metal tube, plastic might work to, that you can get in there would be OK.
Just have to make sure that the hose that will go on that tube will also accommodate the breather.
I am almost positive I have seen a hose connector on the air fitting wall at Napa that is smooth. Not ribbed.
Now would it be the right size?
Also if you have a little trouble getting the diff breather or the tube in a hose there is the brake cleaner trick.
Give it a spray and for a couple seconds, literally, it will let you squeeze something into a rubber hose that
won't quite fit. Now I would not recommend this for all things but thinking it will be fine for a diff breather.

@Ralph77 Thanks, Ralph for the good tips. I'm gonna poke around when I go to the parts store tomorrow. Hit the junkyard today. No luck on the breather hose, only two XJ's and one was a 2WD, the other someone already got to the diff. They are becoming more scarce as of late. The hose on the ZJ is different. Smaller and is on the driver side.

Just run the clear vinyl tube you got at the hardware store to somewhere above "high water" Some guys have terminated their diff vent under the gas-cap door for instance. If the fitting is loose, starting fluid makes a great blast of cleaner before you silicone it with RTV blue or black. (give it a good while to dry first). Then some filter on the upper end......a cheap plastic inline fuel filter like VW's use is one idea, a cotton wad.....a filter from a JY vent, you just don't want crap getting in through the vent tube.

Thinking you are going to want to fix that. Trip to the boneyard should be able to solve that.
