You should only put what it calls for. The high drain plug is for filling with bigger lifts hence it tilts your axle more. If you put too much oil you will blow your axle seals. So if it calls for 2 then only put 2 in there.

I filled to the fill plug on my solid axle cover. I rather there be too much then too little. Anybody know wat size the hex key is for the fill plug? I had to drop it off at Auto tech at my school so they could get it off and put more in and retighten it.

Yeah that's what I would think as well but every company that makes HD diff covers all say they put the fill plug up higher to allow for additional fluid. So when I toss my covers on not sure what I will do for sure. I am with you though that I'd think to much would be like adding to much oil to an engine or tranny and you'd mes up seals and so on..

I rather blow an axle seal then grind the gears into pieces tho. After this I prob will go buy a pump, pump all the fluid out and put an amount in thats between factory and the aftermarket fill level.

i fill til i can stick my finger in.....bend tip down and feel the oil level./ its what i was taught...so basically my stock held 1 and three quarters to that rule and now it fits two quarts now.
