Default Dana 30 locker question

Just want to make sure I am thinking right here...

If I have a Dana 30 with CAD. I can install a lunchbox locker, and with the CAD, I kind of have a poor mans selectable locker. Running with the axle unlocked would keep the locker from chattering or grabbing while driving on the road. With the axle locked it would operate normally. Or another way to say it is; I use the axle lock as the locker selector...

Not 100% the same but would function very similar right?

Does this mean you have welded spider gears. Either way you can still use the CAD

No welded gears. Planning a Spartan or Aussie type locker in the front, but I hear they are a little funny to run in the front end. On road manners are questionable. The CAD will disconnect the passenger side axle, so this should work.

I think I asked a question I already knew the answer to...

I run a LOKKA auto locker, just like the Aussie and it is seamless on the highway. The disconnect would not affect it. It would mean though that the front driveline will always be turning, not really a bad thing

You can do that with the CAD but I would just permanently lock the CAD so you don't have to worry about it not engaging and put the locker in.
