Coming from the diesel community, most of us take what Gail Banks says with a grain of salt. He doesn't have the best reputation among Powerstroke, Cummins and Duramax owners.

As far as i know any Jeep installed D30. They were standard on ABS XJs and all XJs as a mid model year change in 1995 model year. Prior to that ABS XJs had the 760s and non abs jad the 297s.

The 760 is a Spicer upgrade to the 297 that came from the factory.

Older XJs would have come with the 260 joint. It's smaller and weaker.

The 297/760 is the standard Dana 44 axle joint going way back.
