I'm ordering a 3" lift and just need to know for certain. Going w/ zone has anyone installed any of there stuff ?

 

Heard they are stiff but still a good budget lift. Don't know which is better, RC or Zone. Rusty's is a little better in my opinion from personal experience and others.

I'll be doing this in my driveway basically myself and I just want to keep it simple.
Right now I'm bouncing all over the place and I was pondering a suspension tune but not sure what I would tune . Rear is flat and stock springs w/ a spacer . It time lol

 

Zone is very stiff. I wouldnt recommend it. I would go with rough country or rustys if you are on a budget.

 

Zones front coils are stiffer than others but are good quality for the money. I think you'll be happy with your decision. Good luck on the lift!

 

Check out IronRockOffroads lift kits. Thats where I got mine 4 years ago and just have been upgrading since. Have their tie rod and long arms too.

and block lifts aint the safest and ride quality will suffer. if you are looking cheap, junkyard lift.

 

I was actually looking at skyjackers 3 " ? I like the idea of a softer ride I guess.. Thanks for all the input didn't mean to start something off. This will also be my first lift install.

The skyjacker won't ride much nicer than the Zone lift will. I have a 3" zone lift with full pack. The coils are super stiff and the rear leafs are so short that the shackle is actually worse than 90° BUT, a buddy of mine has the same lift but, with a huge bumper, winch, huge rear bumper with spare tire (35") and bilstein shocks and it actually rides pretty nice. The zone kits are good for the money if you have a heavy rig. If you're closer to stock weight, go with rusty's or RC. Oh and if you do go with Zone, skip the shocks and buy something else. Their shocks are hands down the most awful piles of crap I've ever used. Both rear shocks and the drivers side front shocks started to leak within the first 150 miles.

Right now I'm just taking my time doing my research reading reviews ect. I have about a $500. Budget.

 

I run a Zone 3" lift and don't mind it, but I haven't taken it off road yet ( bad tires and snow) Yes it is a little stiff on the road at factory weight. It is a Jeep with a short wheel base so I expected it to ride like a truck. With a full tank of gas and a few inches of ice on the roof, it smooths out so when I do build my bumpers I should have an acceptable ride. We got 4" of snow followed by ice rain and a flash freeze in a 24 hour period so there is about 200 pounds of ice frozen to the roof

I just went with the cheap white body shocks that came with the kit, which are a reported to be a major cause of the stiff ride. I plan on upgrading to better shock when winter is finally over up here in Canada.

The install was simple and straight forward, I did it in the driveway by myself in about 8 hours over two days. I got the add a leaf kit with the intentions of not using the leaf because the previous owner had already replaced the leaf packs. Unfortunately when I finished with the front the Jeep had a reverse rake of about 1.5" so I installed the AAL the next day to level it out. The only problem I had during the install was broken rear upper shock bolts. Actually it wasn't the bolts that broke it was the weld that held the nuts in the frame so I spent a couple hours getting them free.

If you go with a full leaf pack be sure to have replacement hardware on hand before you start. If you have it there waiting chances are you wont need it, but if you start without having the replacement hardware on hand you will need it right at a critical point of the install leaving you scrounging for a ride to the nut and bolt supply

 

Seems like if I just get shocks I'd be ok ?? Not to many options I guess when on a budget under six hundred .. Lol I need a safe ride all the way around for transportation of Dogs. And girlfriend who love to blow shocks and drive up curbs.. Lol
Zone 3" minus the shocks full springs for the rear.
Unless I go with SJ, kit below.

 

I highly recommend, regardless of what kit you choose, getting a set of longer lower control arms. "Technically" you don't need them but, imo, I definitely helps the ride and gets rid of the weak stock lowers.
