Death wobble, vibrations, shimmys....
Iv seen about a jillion of these threads lately and figured it would help to post anything useful to these people in one thread since death wobble is usually caused by the same culprit on every xj, so if you have something to post up post it
ill start with a loose track bar or worn out track bar, ball joints, and bad alignment

What's Death Wobble?
A lot of people mistake DW for bad / poorly balanced tires. Granted, this can help DW get started, but check your shorts after, you'll know when you've wobbled!

it ended up being alignment.

Ever use fix a flat? Alignment. Unbalanced Tires.
Trac Bar(bushings, angles, bolts), Axle Mounts, Tie Rods, Caster Angle, Control arm bushings, Steering box bolts/spacer, Frame(cracks in frame could make steering box feel loose), Damaged steering stabilizer, Bad ball/u joint, drive shaft not balanced, bad front hub, idler arm.

Death Wobble Experience
Went though the Death Wobble scare earlier this summer. In my case the culprit was a new steering damper that was apparently faulty. While trying to solve the problem, I redid the ball joints, inspected tie rods, tires, etc. Once I replaced the steering damper with another new one, the problem was eliminated. The replacement steering damper looked nearly identical to the faulty one. The only difference was how they bolted into the trac bar.
