So I think I've found a better deal on a no so common Cherokee.

2000 4 Door Cherokee XJ Limited
178,000 miles
4.0L Engine with AW4 Automatic and Full Time NP242 Transfer Case
Power Locks, Windows, Seats
Leather Seats
Seat Heaters
Overhead Console
Only issue I can find is the front bumper is rusted
For $3500 - better deal? I think so

OK I feel better now. Waz'nt sure Salad...looked like you sat on something pointy...

Ryromi, you might want to google Cherokee and 0331 head. The 2000 and 01 have some bad habits. Idk myself about the "coil packs", then there is that they are prone to crack right in the middle. I guess it's actually true that coolant in the oil can do nasty things to the engine bearings, so just swapping the head in one that has cracked might still leave problems.

I'm sure others can fill in here better then I can.

Thanks, I am well aware of the 0331 head and how it cracks right between the 3 and 4 cylinder. Those heated seats though... might just make it worth it.

Looked to me, Salad sat on the hot seat! In any case I gather the revised, 0331's with a "TUPY" foundry mark (found under the oil filler), are found on later Jeeps, or at the JY.

Just because something is rare doesn't mean it's worth anything. It's a turd.

Yup. Turds aren't rare, but even if they were, they'd still be turds.

Different for the sake of different makes as much sense as change for the sake of change.

Well this one I don't want so much for being rare, as I want for those heated seats. I travel tremendously (about 50k miles a year) and sometimes drive as far as Anchorage in the winter time. Those heated seats are worth so much to me as a comfort convenience its worth the risk to me of having a chance that I'll need to rebuilt the engine in the future.

Keep in mind, I'm not looking to buy this to build into a trail rig. This I'm looked at for a stock DD for many years to come.

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but from my research previously on the 0331 head, I seem to remember that as long as you never let the engine overheat that head typically doesn't have an issue, but just one overheat and its done.
