Default Diesel Gears

Does somebody know the stock diesel axle gear ratio on both renault and vm engines and either ax15 and peugeot manual transmissions before i start searching for days on the web? Thanks.

The only thing I seen was 84,i4 diesel was 3.54 with a D35,the ax-15 ratios are
1-3,83,2-2.33,3-1.44,4-1.00,5-0.79.

Isn't the 3.55 the same stock ratio of the il6 with auto? I thought they were shorter.

This was all I could find for the 2.1 turbo diesel ratios. I was suprised that the ratio was 3.54 for the diesel, seemed a little low to me,when the gas version for 84-86 were much higher.
3.55 was stock with the i6 and auto trans,if that is what you are asking,I have never seen anything on the vm because it was never sold here, but I am going to look more in a bit.

Renault 2.1
For 85-86 The AX-5 was used.. the two available ratios were 3.54 and 4.10
For 87 with the Peugot 3.07 was added to the two others. (that would be one SLOW truck)....

The Vm....

No ideas.. it wasn't sold here.

Do you know what year or model used the 4:10 ratio and why?

No. During the AMC era, just about any option was available at any time in just about any of the packages available. So its really hard to say that a specific package had a certain gearing in it.

In the gas powered XJs.. normally the 4-cyl motors got the 4.10 gears. But even that wasn't a given. You could order them with any of the gear sets and the fuel miser package could be had.

Ok, the reason why i ask is because we have only diesels in the JY here and are very very cheap to part out, i could get both axles for 200, i'll need to check the tags to see what gears are in it.

Are you in South America??? There were some export Cherokees that got Dana 44's front and rear. But for European or Australian models I don't know the break-down on those.

Two more things... you are going to need to pull the entire carrier for 4.10s. And you need to find a Non-C clip axle.

No i am in Italy, i will pull the whole axles if i find the 4.10s, my 88 limited already has HP front and non c clip rear with lsd. I think the old ones with the big drums are all non c clip at least in europe... d44s are very very rare, only some 87s xj and gas mjs, the diesel mjs are all d35.
