That's exactly what I was looking for, but as you said, they are no longer being produced. I don't like the one from Rock-it. It looks cheap and looks like it would still get caught up on trails. Rock-it also states that their 8.25 skid plate is only good for '96+ xj's for some reason. I asked a Quadratec rep about it earlier today and he said that's the information the manufacturer gave them, so that's the best they know. As far as I know the 8.25 never changed though, so I don't know why it would only fit '96+.

Build your own such as the one shown or maybe 96_XJ will be nice enough to build you one since hes already done one himself.

Quite a hefty axle you got there, PM me a link to your build thread. I'll enjoy reading it I think. lol.

Were those fab pictures not yours?

Kopecki: I doubt I'll make it down this summer but the following summer I'll be hitting up Rausch Creek. I could fab one up for you and bring it down. As far as the ladies at the border are concerned its a spare part. lol

What would you charge for something like that? As I've stated before, I don't have the skills nor the tools to do so myself, but hopefully some day I will. My cousin is a pretty good welder and told me if I get a welder he can teach me. The only problem I have with that is that my house was built in 1950 and still has a 100 amp service. A local electrician quoted us $3k to convert it to a 200 amp service...... SCREW THAT. I'll stick to turning off the heater or air conditioner to vacuum or run the microwave......

I'm not sure. I'd probably just charge you a bit more than the cost of materials since I'd be making one for myself as well anyway.

Maybe he can help you weld one up.

He doesn't have a welder anymore. He used to work for a motorcycle shop and used their stuff when he could but he was laid off a few years ago. I'm not sure I'd want to use something with that many angles and such as a first project either... A simple square stock bumper would be a much more suitable starting point. Don't run before you can walk, ya know??
