Distributor to coils?
Hey fellas, I currently have a 96 xj, that runs a distributor, but the body is rotted out. Just bought a 98 that has a clean body, but a blown engine, hole in the side of the block.
The idea is I wanna swap my entire driveline from the 96 into the 98 and have a good running, solid body xj.
Problem is, the 98 has coils, not a distributor. Do I need to find an engine that's set up to run on coils? Can I make the 98 run with distributor, or make the good engine run on coils? What would you guys do?

If your 98 has coil packs and no distributor the engine isn't original. They didn't start with the coil packs until (i think) 2000. I do know for a fact that the 98 does have a distributor.

Dammit. So... If my 98 originally had a distributor, I could get a 98 ECM and harness for a distributor. Then just put all that onto my 96 engine and it should be good?
