certainly could.

Well then....I suppose it's something to try. Autozone has one for $28 and in stock.

Before going through all the trouble of yanking the steering wheel and everything else involved in replacing the Multifunction, just plug the new one into that harness under the dash and see if it works. I don't think that's the problem but it's definitely worth a shot.

I can just plug it in without pulling the wheel? Cool, I'll have to do that. It seems to me it COULD be the problem. Switch not sending power out to the lights....

The problem with blaming it on the switch is that there is no single component in the switch that impacts all lights in the system. There is also the fact that your turn signal issues coincide with other electrical work. I've seen MFS (I'm tired of writing out Multifunction Switch) fail many times but it usually affects one side or one light. Whenever all lights failed at once the failure was elsewhere. That doesn't mean it's impossible and since you don't actually have to install it in the wheel to test, you can return it if it doesn't solve the problem.

Hmm, didn't think of all that at first....Good point, too. Any other wires or anything I should check tomorrow before I go get it?

I still think it has something to do with the power going to that light green wire on the MFS side but I haven't figured that out yet nor a workaround to figure it out. I think trying another MFS is an excellent next step, it will either fix the problem for $28 or you can return it and we keep going until there is an epiphany. We've officially exhausted my first-hand experience with the XJ signaling system and are now searching for a needle in a haystack. Lucky for you, I'm OCD, lol.

My thinking (And it's probably wrong....) is that something in the switch is broke, corroded or something stupid and it's not sending power back out. That's just my thinking, so don't quote me....Unless I turn out to be right

I had similar issues with mine. Ended up being iginition switch. Try turning one of the blinkers on, doesn't matter which, and rotating the key in the ignition slowly to see if it energizes the blinkers at any point. If it does, ignition switch. I could wiggle mine around and keep the blinkers working for awhile until that quit working, then had to change out switch and has worked great since.

Good call, cmarr. This was on the list of things to check, for sure.

Okay, so this is what I'm gonna pick up at Autozone later. Can this be tested without pulling the wheel?

I've never been so disappointed to win :/

Have you tried Cmarr6's recommendation to twist the key a little in the ON position with the blinker stalk set to either left or right turn? Even my blinkers fail from time to time due to a worn ignition switch but I can get them to work by wiggling the lock cylinder. If that doesn't work, check the condition of the plug going into your ignition switch. It's mounted to the side of the steering column (I think on the left/upper).

The next step will be to get power to that light green wire any way we can, even if it means running a wire, tapped into a hot connector in the fuse box. The light green wire has to be powered for your blinkers to work. On the positive side, you can go get your twenty-eight bucks back.
