So, long story short, pulled tranny to replace freeze plug, now jeep wont rev past 2k rpms. (its like a rev limiter.)

I'm assuming it's some sort of limp home mode because I have replaced EVERY single sensor, including the ECU, inspected the entire wire harness, new coil cap roter plugs and wires, and confirmed 31+ fuel pressure.

We spilled most of the tranny fluid during the removal and topped it off with ATF+4. Now I'm reading that ATF+4 is a tranny killer for the AW4s. Could that cause the tranny to put it in limp home mode?

I don't believe the AW4 has a limp mode, not that advanced.

I know when my 1-2 solenoid stopped working I could only use gears one and three. The torque converter wouldn't lock either. I'm pretty sure it went into limp mode.

Did you damage the CPS or wiring?

That is NOT limp mode. That's just broken.

Limp mode is a special mode programmed into newer vehicles which is supposed to let you move the vehicle (for example, to get off a highway) when you have suffered a failure.

Well I stand corrected. Still find it odd that the torque converter never locked.

Oh OP, get that ATF4 out of there and replace with DexIII.

It's possible the transmission, transfer case, and engine are not exactly true to each other.

My first thought was to re-stab everything. I could be wrong.

I would pull the tranny back off, check everything then reinstall.
