OK guys tonight I found 6 blown fuses and replaced them all I did get my stop lights to work but my Tail lights and dash lights are not comming on. I belive its the Headlight switch. I started to take it out and they said I have to remove the screw that screws into the Switch in my repair manual. I spent 2 + hrs trying to find it does anyone know where it is and any easy way of getting it out? If any advice please let me know. I ordered the part today and It will be in next Tuesday so I would like to try and get it out this weekend and put it in my Tuesday Evening. Looking forward to hear from you guys

I have the same problem. When I bought the 89xj last week the guy told me to have someone replace the headlight switch, that came with the jeep, to get the tail lights working. I replaced that this morning and no tail lights! I have to check the dash lights tonight as I have not noticed if they work or not.
I do not see a fuse labeled for them. My fronts work though. ?????

Guys I put the New Headlight Switch in and my headlights are brighter but NO DASH LIGHTS, or Tailights, I do have breaklights tho! And my Dome light does work fine. This is really bugging me. Any Idea of what it could be! I want to fix it so I can start to work on my fabrication end of making it a rock crawler!

I had this exact problem a while back/right now. In my case, the dash lights/dome light/tail light circuit will blow if I try to turn on the dome light using the switch. To check if this might help you, unplug the ground wire from the switch. It is the one on the bottom, all by itself. Then try putting in a new fuse, and see if it works. If you have a trailer hitch, clean out the contacts. Or better yet, if you can unplug it entirely. That can also cause the problem. If pulling the ground wire on the switch doesn't do it, you can next unplug the blue/red wire (tail lights), and I'm forgetting the color of the wire for the dash lights. (Note: That ground wire is only ground for the dome light, using the switch. It will still come on when doors are opened.) Just pick up a small box of fuses, and keep testing pulling another circuit off the fuse. When it seems to be good, add them back in with the exception of the last one you pulled. Best of luck, and keep us posted.

Headlight (switch?) repair
I have a 93 Cherokee and my headlights will not work all of a sudden. The high beams will flash once but won't stay on - all other lights work (dash, parking lights, brake and reverse lights, even turn signals). As far as I can tell all fuses and relays are in working order so i'm thinking it's the switch. I love to try to fix things like this but I am in need of major help from someone who has done it before. Anyone? I would be forever indebted if someone can walk me through this.

I got kinda the same issue but I replaced some fog light casings on the bumper .. well the stock Fog light switch worked only when the headlight switch was on all the way and the low beams were only on.. Well last night i turned them on to see if everything worked and than as i turned on and off the OEM fog light switched My hids would dim out.. well after about 3 or 4 times with me playin with that fog light switch i left the fogs on for about 20 seconds and the driver side hot wire started frying only that one wire.. than all my tail lights head lights and dash lights and buzzer went out and wont come on.. my turn signals and wipers still work and so does my dome lights and flashers.. i checked every fuse under the dash it all is good i went under the hood nothing of fuses just a bunch of relays i dont know how to check relays or such and there is a few metal fuses/relays that are in the fuse panel i have not messed with any of them tho.. i am wondering if there is anything that i can check and can be not working like a bad switch or relay? No burnt wires or any smoking in the Jeep or anything??
