ok so when i got my cherokee there was no dome light..i went to the junkyard and got the light and the harness that plugs into wat was on the jeep.....but wen i plug it in it doesnt go off i hav all the doors shut and the light **** switch turned so it wouldnt be on...there are also an extra set of wires 1 ground and 1 power just floating in the headliner ...please help

 

Probably why the PO took it out :P check the little button the door pushes shut when it is closed, that may be messed up.

 

yea check em with a meter and it should tell you... or just cut the wires to all of em and that'll tell ya lol

i hear the ones for the hatch go out more often.

 

i cant find the button for the back hatch

 

I’m 99% sure my 97 doesn’t have one for the rear hatch. It also doesn’t have them for the rear doors.

 

ur right about the back doors and im pretty sure bout the hatch too

 

mines a 2000 sorry!

 

Trying to remember back to my 97. I know my 96 ZJ you can tap the rear dome light itself when the tailgates open and it'll shut off all interior lights. I'm still agreeing with the others, check the front two door switches.

 

i know the front switches work cuz wen i hav my key in the ignition but not on and open my door the buzzer buzzes

 

no your switchs can still be bad... even if the buzzer works...

 

o..ok ...r the switches like an autozone part or what?

 

Also check your headlight switch, if the 1989 has it on the switch.
