dome light wont shut off

dome light wont shut off
i have an 87 cherokee. and all of the sudden my dome light started staying on when i closed my doors. long story short. i traced the issue to my back hatch. when i push on it. itll go off. tried hammering the pin that fastens the hatch out alittle thinking maybe the prior owners shut it hard and knocked it back. that worked but its starting to do it again. anyway. is there a switch i can just disconnect for the back hatch so it wont matter. or do i need to replace the whole locking mechanism itself?

fixed the issue. the post that the latch clasps to wears down over time. i slapped a bit of duct tape around it. and the dome shuts off now. until i can grap the aprt from pull apart
