Default Door Check Arm is Broken

New to CF... gotta quick question. I live by Morris 4x4 Center (AKA Jeep 4x4 Center) and went yesterday to pick up check arm pins because 3/4 have rusted out. Replaced both driver side then went to the passenger front door. The pin kinda jumped out and fell behind the body panel directly behind front right tire. This isn't the real problem at hand. The old pin was out of the check arm on the passenger door which meant the check arm was sticking out and not connected from the door to the main body (by the hinges). I closed the door thinking the pin would fall outt. When I closed the door, the check arm hit the body in a funny place snapped back inside to the door. The check arm sticks out of the door about and inch and I can't pull it back it so I'm assuming it's broken or one of the bolts is broken. Do you have a good idea as to where to buy a check arm cheap? Jeep 4x4 center (Morris) wants $60 for one and I think thats a little outrageous. Thanks for your help!!

Below is a picture of what the check arm looks like currently...

Based off of this picture, if I decide to replace it, should I replace the bracket attatched to the body too?

Good ole junkyard. What year is your XJ? I will most likely be hitting the jy on Sunday and it would only take a few minutes to pull those out and should not be very much $.

It might be an assembly. Would need to remove it to find out for sure, and I might even still have those on the spare 87 doors in my garage. If not, my brother may still have them on a set in his barn.

It's a 2001. All the junkyards down here make you by the whole door instead of parting it. I'm gonna go inside today and remove the speaker and actually see what the deal is.

I saw a 99 on the lot here last week but can't remember if the doors were still on it. The doors me and my brother have are from 87 and 89 and most likely will not work.

I honestly don't even know if I'm gonna replace it if I can't find parts. The door still open and closes perfectly, no issue. But I'm gonna go in and see what wrong. I'll take some more pics and post them so y'all can see.

Just go to a farm and fleet, tsc, home depo, manards, any tractor parts store, true value, ace. Go any where and get a pin that fits in the hole with a cotter pin going through it. Heck almost the same pin as used on the t-case linkage. I slaughtered a bunch of names of stores I really don't care about but you get the idea.

Thats the problem, I have the pins. It's the actual arm thats broken. I went to close the door (w/o the pin) and it must have snapped back into the door somehow.

I'll compare the door checks on my spare 87 doors to the ones on my wife 01 and see how close they get (seriously doubt it). It will be fairly easy to find replacement parts from the junkyard near me.

Alright man. please let me know because like I said, it's not that big of a deal if the part can't be found but if it can, GREAT!!!

To me it looks like all you are missing is the pin. Just lube the mechanism in the door and get a new pin.

I know I bent something. It's supposed to be a lot longer... It's supposed to look like this below (this pic is my driver door which i replaced the pin in yesterday)

I would first try just lubing and replacing the pin first and see how that works. Those can be a bear to try to pull out by hand even if they aren't broken.

Quick update::::::: Just went and took the panel off and removed the speaker to see if I could see anything... no luck . I can only see a little glimpse of the inside door and thats about it. Does anyone know how to change these out or atleast get to it?
