Default Dorman A/C bypass pulley

I recently purchased a Dorman A/C bypass pulley to replace the A/C compressor. When I opened the box I was surprised to see that the pulley was made of some sort of plastic. Does anyone out there have any experience with these plastic pulleys? If so, I would like your comments. I personally am skeptical of plastic used in this application, but imagine Dorman would not be selling them if they did not hold up. Thanks for any information you my be able to supply-Cove

I happen to have the same thing on my XJ. Had it for about 1000 miles and no problems with the plastic pulley.

I've had mine on for 15k and no problems. I did buy a spare on just to have on hand. I was concerned about the bearing and how long it will last....... So far, so good.........

Thanks for the feedback guys. It sounds like the plastic (nylon?) pulley is okay if it went at least 15,000 mi. I guess it won't be long till the whole vehicle is made of plastic. Thanks again- Cove

Its in a box in the garage. Didn't see a reason to put it back on. I just don't stick my hands in there when its on!

Hand/finger protection is secondary.....primary function of any fan shroud is engine cooling.

Ive put off getting one, saying i was gonna do my radiator first. Im afraid to touch my cooling system though. Never had a single issue with it.

It actually came off when i was replacing my radiator. I've never had a problem with temperature since but I'll keep that in mind if I need to drop a few degrees. For now its much more convenient to not have to work around it
