Driveline vibration/rumble
Got a 3" lift for my XJ and immediately noticed a vibration and rumble anytime I lifted the throttle after getting up to 30+mph. Did a T-case drop and the vibration went away but it's still rumbling every so often. It seems to be coming from the front, not the back. What would be causing it?

Do you hear banjos?
Check all of the ujoints. Sometimes when the angle is changed on them, it can throw them off. Especially when there have been a ton of miles put on them, which is usually the case. They could ahve been toast before, but only become more noticable due to the change in the angle. I would look the drive shaft joints first, I bet they are shot. HTH!!

I would suggest you install a slip yoke eliminator, it should get rid of your vibes. but isnt cheap and takes some handy work. Iron Rock Offroad sells an SYE kit for 200, that is what i used

Do you get new lower control arms with your lift? If not your pinion angle could be off.
Yes...I can;t tell you how hard it is to replace the bearing because when mine was shot I just replaced the whole axle.
Also check your front drive shaft for play in the centering ball in the carden joint and play in the slip joint.
Would a loose pinion gear cause it?

I would agree with the above post about getting a slip yoke eliminator....You've lifted the vehicle, which probably threw off the geometry (angles) of the driveline which would cause vibrations.

new tires and all are balanced. new heavy duty upper and lower control arms as well. the vibration isn't there any more after doing a t-case drop but the rumble is. It only happens when I let off the throttle, no other time. can you do a SYE on the front drive shaft? Would I have to go with a shorter shaft with a SYE (Tom Woods, etc)?
