Default Drivers door electric window

My driver's door window stopped today in the fully down position. I have not had a problem with this window functioning in the past. I was able to put gentle force below the window and get the window to come up about a quarter inch above the rubber wiper, but the motor will not take over. With the motor's connector disconnected I get good 12v power from the switch. Checking resistance between the two conductors on the motor side, I see 0 ohm ground. Is ground between the two conductors the indication the motor has fried?

Yeah, there should be some resistance on the motors contacts however if it's shorted to ground, it should have taken a fuse with it.

I haven't held the switch for more than a second or so. Among other things the clock dims while the switch is engaged. I can feel a "thunk" in the motor if I put my hand on it when I hit the switch, it feels jammed. I was able to get away with replacing just the motor on the right rear. That old motor didn't do anything at all, and I don't remember how it ohmed out. There is probably slightly more effort involved in swapping out motors - you still have to remove the regulator and put it back. It seems to be a moot point anyway, there are no motors available for the left side windows, just aftermarket (dorman) replacements.

I've removed the nut from the regulator and the window is fixed in the closed position with a wooden wedge. The thing still doesn't even try to move. The window moved up freely by hand though

Just to close this out...I ordered an ACI replacement regulator with motor. I drilled out the rivets holding the old regulator to the inside of the door. The new regulator comes with the attachment points threaded for M6 x 1.00 fasteners. The new motor has the wrong connector, so I soldered, Oxygaurd, and shrink tubed the two conductors to the old motor's connector. I applied Loctite to the 7 M6 x 1.00 fasteners before installing and tightening them. I used clear packing tape to seal the plastic back up before reinstalling the door panel. The new motor moves the window up and down faster than the old. The new motor is a little louder - in a buzzy kind of way, but not too loud.
